Escape From New York Reboot

Not that long ago, there was an attempt by New Line and Warner Bros. to remake Escape from New York, a classic originally helmed by John Carpenter. Unfortunately, the project was dropped almost two years ago while it was in development.

Ever since, the reboot has been up for grabs and it was just recently reported by Deadline that the project is moving forward again. It appears that American producer Joel Silver, owner of Silver Pictures, is teaming up with Studio Canal to put together a new franchise surrounding one of our favorite protagonists on film, Snake Plissken. Silver entrusted the rights and is planning to produce a trilogy based on new material, including an origin story, similar to what Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes did.

Because this is still an early announcement, a writer isn’t attached to the project yet, but search is underway to find one. As for who will play Snake in the reboot is still a mystery. However, the following actors were considered for the reboot last time around: Gerard Butler, Jeremy Renner, and Tom Hardy.
