Bad news for gamers who’ve already sent a letter to Santa asking for Fable Anniversary, the remastered remake of the 2004 original for Xbox 360. While Lionhead Studios previously promised a 2013 Holiday Season release, in a recent blog post the developer has announced that the game won’t be out until February 2014:
We’ve been working hard for the past year to bring you the very best Fable Anniversary experience on Xbox 360. We feel though, that we need a little more time in order to meet our ambitions and give you, the fans, the best game possible.
I know I speak for everyone at Lionhead when I say that we can’t wait for you to see what we’ve been up to, and it gives us great pleasure to let you know that you can expect Fable Anniversary to be both on-shelves and online via the Xbox Games Store in February 2014.
It sucks, but at least Lionhead isn’t shipping something that they’re not proud of. It’s not the game, but the developer has promised to issue “screenshots, more game footage, and perhaps even some… top secret announcements.” Some of those announcements just might be about the upcoming four-player co-op Fable Legends for Xbox One.
We’ll have to wait and see, but rest assured that we’ll keep you posted.
