Kotaku has obtained leaked casting documents that seemingly indicate that Fallout 4 is in development and will take place in Boston. While the word “Fallout” does not appear in these documents, code-named “Institute,” the script, character descriptions, and other details (such as the famous line from Fallout 1-3, “War. War never changes”) point to this project being Fallout 4.
I don’t mind, but others might: Is Boston an appropriate setting for a post-apocalyptic Boston? Is it too soon after the Boston Marathon Bombing?
Fallout 4 is a highly anticipated game, so much so that an elaborate hoax website appeared a couple of weeks ago called TheSurvivor2299. Gaming sleuths are also aware that Bethesda scouted the Boston area back in 2012 and voice actors had been making leading Tweets.
It’s not known if all the characters mentioned in the script will appear in the final game, neither is it known whether or not the game will be called Fallout 4, but we’ll keep you posted. For now, know that there’s a game in the works.
