Following two fairly fun seasons of Scream Queens FOX has decided to put a halt to the beloved horror comedy anthology series. In fact, the network has permanently canceled a third season, which starred Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Roberts, Abigail Breslin, Billie Lourd, Glen Powell and Niecy Nash.
Although Scream Queens performed well in delayed viewing and was extremely talked about on social media within a younger demographic, the passionate fan following was just not enough to fully translate to ratings sadly. Therefore FOX was forced to make the announcement this morning.
Dana Walden and Gary Newman from FOX said,
It feels as if it was a complete series. We have no plans to go back and tell more stories there. We won’t be seeing Scream Queens this season.
Fortunately, Jamie thanked the fans of Scream Queens with a wacky but heartfelt message via Twitter. The final episode of the season closed out with 1.38 million viewers overnight and a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
