This new update regarding F13 is as sharp as Jason’s machete. According to producer Brad Fuller from Platinum Dunes, development on a sequel to Friday the 13th could start next month once his two other projects Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Almanac are all wrapped up.
Fuller responded with the update via Twitter:
@superchecco we are wrapping TMNT and Almanac over the next month. Then we will start to work on F13 .

After those two films, all hell breaks loose with another F13 film featuring king of the slasher genre and horror icon Jason Voorhees. Hopefully, they plan on bringing back Kane Hodder (Hatchet, Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood, Jason X) over Derek Mears to play Voorhees. Hodder is hands down the best actor to play any villain behind a mask, and they should continue to use him.
Not too long ago, we reported that Paramount regained full rights to the F13 franchise, which also meant there would be lot less complications to make sequels over the next five years. Today was just a sign that the first sequel will come sooner than later.
Let’s just hope the next one is brutal, and I’m hoping it will be produced in Real3D.
