Georges St-Pierre’s UFC return is set in stone! The former UFC welterweight champion will officially face Michael Bisping for the middleweight strap at UFC 217 in New York. However, GSP promises to be a different fighter than before, perhaps a closer version to “Rush” back in the day but much more violent.
In a recent interview on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, GSP vowed to be opportunistic in his second run in the UFC. In fact, the Canadian wants to finish more fights and “hurt” opponents. A version MMA fans have been waiting for a very longtime.
I’ve trained a lot of things, GSP said. I’m gonna be more there to hurt guys and to go for the finish. To submit, to break. To go for the break. To go for the knockout or go for the break if i have a submission. Until he taps. I’m gonna be more opportunistic.
GSP understands Bisping is far from an easy opponent because of his strength and durability. The former welterweight kingpin has been training to be “angry” on the finish.
It will be tough, Michael is a very courageous man. He always comes forward. He never backs down. Mentally, he’s very tough. I made my training to be more opportunistic to be more angry on the finish.
UFC 217: Bisping vs. St-Pierre takes place on Nov. 4 at Madison Square Guarden.
