If Georges St-Pierre had to list some of his favorite movies, I guarantee anything that starred Jean-Claude Van Damme would be on his list, including Bloodsport, Cyborg, and Kickboxer. GSP said it before that JCVD was one of his idols when he was a kid, and it now appears that the former UFC Welterweight Champion will star in one of JCVD’s classics.
According to a press release from Jazo PR, a public relations firm that focuses on various branding, including films, revealed that GSP is being cast for a role in the remake of Kickboxer, directed by Stephen Fung. Although, there’s still no word on which part GSP will get, we can at least confirm that he won’t be the lead because Alain Mousasi was given the part. Mousasi previously served as a stuntman in X-Men: Days of Future Past, Pacific Rim, and Whitehouse Down.
The Exchange is currently financing Kickboxer, and will be looking for a studio buyer next week during the Cannes Film Festival.
