Ghostbusters 3 Gets A New Co-Writer

Ghostbusters 3

Despite several failed attempts to bring Bill Murray back into the Ghostbusters fold and the recent passing of Harold Ramis earlier this year, Ghostbusters 3 is still moving forward without them at Sony. In fact, the reboot is expected to be a completely new departure in story and cast from the first two critically acclaimed films.

According to earlier reports, Ghostbusters 3 will be an all-female cast of paranormal investigators. There’s still no official word on who will play them yet, and it looks like Sony is taking their time to fill in the shoes because fans of the franchise are so familiar with the original cast. It’s going to be a tough task for the studio, but I’m sure the new cast will come together very soon.

As far as directing and writing duties go. Sony has selected Katie Dippold to co-pen the third chapter with Paul Feig, who is also attached as the director. Dippold previously had her script writing skills attached to The Heat, a 2013 action comedy that starred Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy.

Producer Ivan Reitman of the first two films will once again produce Ghostbusters 3, which is expected to begin shooting early in 2015.
