At one point in time, UFC President Dana White may have been close to locking a deal with Gina Carano to pit her in a five-round title fight against UFC Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey, but that’s all a memory now that Carano will be filming two movies between now and the end of 2015.
With two Hollywood movies in the pipeline there’s no chance in hell Carano will risk getting bruised and battered to a pulp for a one-fight deal. UFC’s offer might be amazing for Carano and the publicity she would get with Rousey would be historical in MMA, but with ring rust playing against Carano the odds of the fight going in her favor aren’t very likely. The fight would be all buzz and no substance, in my opinion. Carano returning to MMA full-time would make more sense, which might result in a good fight with Rousey, who is currently undefeated and is at the peak of her MMA career.
Carano is sticking to movies for the time being. The 32-year-old will be filming a movie called Bus 657 in October, according to Carano’s manager Scott Karp. It will also star Robert De Niro, Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchman), Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns), and Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy).
Carano will play a police officer in pursuit of two men, played by Morgan and Bautista, who attempt to hijack two buses filled with hostages in a casino robbery.
Her second movie will start filming in December.
