Yell! Magazine reviews Girls Against Boys (2012):

When I put this film on I didn’t know what to expect, and somewhere between 30 and 40 minutes in I considered turning it off, thinking I’d settled in for a girls-bonding type of film. If it wasn’t for the flashforward scene at the beginning, I probably would have turned it off. I’m glad I didn’t, because the payoff was worth the wait.

Girls Against Boys stars Danielle Panabaker (Shae), Nicole LaLiberte (Lu), Andrew Howard (Terry), and Liam Aiken (Tyler). Written and directed by Austin Chick (XX/XY, August), who seems to have a penchant for drama and relationships, has crafted an intense and brutal revenge flick.

While the film is dark and you side with Shae, you’ll soon find yourself disgusted by yourself for rooting for her. Girls Against Boys is a great character study, showing us how easily a wounded heart can be persuaded to committed horrifying acts, and then how the owner of that same heart can try to return to normalcy – though she’ll always be haunted by the devil that led her astray.

While watching, I couldn’t help but to be reminded of Fatal Attraction: Lu being the evil driving force, akin to Glenn Close’s character, behind Shae’s evil deeds. The comparison between Shae and Michael Douglas’ character is best made in their attempts to redeem themselves.

Girls Against Boys

It’s extreme feminism, and the ultimate moral of the film is, don’t cheat on your wife, even if you’re separated.

The Verdict: ★★★½☆

Girls Against Boys isn’t a straightforward horror flick, but it does have some gruesome torture-porn scenes that rival Eli Roth’s Hostel. If you’re not interested in seeing a film that a drama with elements of horror, at least watch this one for Panabaker’s extremely long legs. I’m kidding, sort of. Actually, any horror fan should see this for at least one particularly brutal scene.
