This might be the straw that breaks the camel’s back for many of you, but it’s recently been reported that a full-on remake of the 1984 classic, Gremlins, has been green lit. Most of us would have been OK with a sequel (which has been long speculated and would have ended up being a remake of sorts anyway since the whole Mogwai back story and the three rules would need to be explained for a new generation), but a total Gremlins remake seems a bit senseless. Then again, there were many naysayers about an Evil Dead remake and look how that turned out.
No director has been linked to the Gremlins remake, but Seth Grahame-Smith (Dark Shadows, the next Beetlejuice, and FOX’ Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) and David Katzenberg have been tagged to produce. Smith could potentially write the Gremlins remake, but that still remains to be seen.
What do you think: Should there be a Gremlins remake?
