Mama hits theaters on January 18, 2013. The Universal horror film, produced by Guillermo del Toro, is based on a short by the brother-and-sister team director Andy Muschietti and co-writer Barbara Muschietti.

Del Toro recently spoke of why he was attracted to the project, stating that it was “essientially one of the scariest little scenes I’ve ever seen.” Endorsements don’t get much better than that.

In the video above, you’ll see del Toro talking about the Mama short and getting behind the full feature. The short is also included in the clip, which should give you a nice taste of what the film, staring Zero Dark Thirty‘s Jessica Chastain, Game of Thrones‘ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Megan Charpentier, and Isabelle Nelisse, is about.
