If you’ve been to Heavy Montreal in the last couple of years, you know that the crowd that Metallica drew last year wasn’t there this year, but that doesn’t mean that Heavy Montreal 2015 wasn’t a resounding success. This years event, which was stretched from a two-day event to three, attracted more than 40,000 fans, and with after parties and performances in the city coinciding with the event, there was plenty to do for locals and tourists alike. Check out the additional details in the press release below:

From the Press Release:

Heavy Montreal, presented by Molson Canadian, a must for heavy metal, rock and punk fans, attracted more than 40,000 fans of heavy metal music to Parc Jean-Drapeau this past weekend.

As per years past, Heavy Montreal offered an exceptionally friendly party atmosphere, with, among other things, the presentation of several remarkable performances. This year’s more varied program of the Festival, which took place over three days this year and included performances by both punk and rock groups, appealed to a wider range of fans. The organizers are very satisfied with the results, as are the artists who performed and were thrilled with the experience and the fans’ welcome.

Fans from all over the world!

Close to a third of the fans this weekend were from outside of Quebec, which means significant economic benefits for Montréal and the province! In additional to the other Canadian provinces, attendees came from thirteen different countries, including the United States, Germany, Australia, Brazil, Switzerland, France and Great Britain. Incredible popularity for a Festival whose reputation just keeps getting better.

Memorable performances!

Among the weekend’s highlights were KORN’s incredible performance which closed Friday night and the frenzied performances by NOFX, Extreme and Iggy Pop. Amongst special moments we also witnessed the reunion of Canadian band Alexisonfire, Faith No More’s first performance in Montreal since 1992 as well as the unique performance of Marky Ramone and Andrew WK who performed the Ramones hits one after the other. Finally, legendsSlipknot concluded the weekend with an impressive performance in front of the biggest crowd of the festival.

Heavy around the city

Heavy Montreal is more than just 3 days at Parc Jean-Drapeau. Fans had the chance to continue to party in the city all weekend with special shows in many venues including Metropolis where the Fat Wrecked Tour stopped by on Friday and Saturday to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the label.
