The dates of the third annual Heavy MTL have been announced for 2011, but there’s no word yet on which bands will be playing at the heavy metal festival. Just to get them out of the way and to answer your question, those dates are July 23th and 24th.
In the event that you’re unfamiliar with Heavy MTL, it’s a two-day metal fest that attracts the biggest of the big. Past performers include Iron Maiden, Motley Crue, Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer, Voivod, Disturbed, Rob Zombie, Anvil, Alice Cooper, Rob Halford, Fear Factory, Melissa Auf Der Maur, and much, much more; we’re anxious to know who is on the 2011 lineup.
For each of the previous two years of Heavy MTL, two of us here at Yell! Magazine have made the pilgrimage to Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal, Quebec, and we’ve been nothing but impressed with only good things to say after the fact. We highly recommend that you find a way to check out the fest.
While Heavy MTL is a one-city stop, and we’re obviously fans of it, it was also initially our surrogate for the touring festival known as Gigantour. We’re also happy to announce that, after being off the grid since 2008, Gigantour will get a reboot in 2011. Add to this the fact that there is a massive amount of metal albums getting released this year, it’s clear that heavy metal is alive and well.
We’re dead-set on keeping you updated as more news regarding Heavy MTL comes in, so keep coming back to Yell! Magazine for the latest.
Rock hard!
