Talk about a new Halloween movie has been lurking behind locked doors for quite some time now. In fact, word got out in the past that Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer were going to pen the next movie together, which was described as a sequel. The plan was also to shoot it in 3-D. But that Halloween project has come to a complete halt.
However, it appears there’s another Halloween project shifting into gear now with a new pair of writers, who have plenty of experience in the horror genre, to potentially bring Michael Myers back to the big screen in a manner fans of the original Halloween might really appreciate. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Patrick Melton (Piranha 3DD, Saw 3D: The Final Chapter) and Marcus Dunstan (The Collection, Saw IV) have been hired to pen the new untitled Halloween movie, which is currently described as “not a remake, not a reboot, and not a reimagining”, but more of a “recalibration.”
Moustapha Akkad’s son, Malek Akkad, is stepping into his father’s shoes as the producer alongside Matt Stein. No other details have been released so far, but we’ll be watching out for them closely in the future and we’ll continue to keep Yellers in the loop.
