iwrestledabearonce Drops “Carnage Asada” – Featuring Steve Vai

Am I the only one who thinks it weird that the legendary Steve Vai is guesting on an iwrestledabearonce track? I mean, the way he’s playing, all jazzy and sporadic, totally fits, but he’s just such an iconic guitarist. Then again, he’s so good on this track that I think he should be a permanent member of IWABO.

The track is “Carnage Asada” coming from IWABO’s latest album, Late for Nothing, which has a street date of August 6th. Vai opens the track with some ripping scale, which lasts just seconds before the rest of the band attacks. I have to say that I had my doubts about Courtney LaPlante when I first heard of Krysta Cameron departure, but LaPlante is nothing if not perfect on “Carnage Asada.”

You can stream “Carnage Asada” at guitarworld.com.

Vai also has mid-song solo which is out-of-this-world wicked. He’s certainly proving that he still has it and that he can keep pace with a completely new generation of metal. Not bad for an old guy.

IWABO has previously released the tracks “Firebees” (in the video player at the top) and “Thunder Chunky” (just below) from Late for Nothing. Actually, all of these tracks are amazing and squash any doubts about LaPlante. IWABO has definitely matured and evolved on Late for Nothing.

IWABO is wrapping up a European tour at the moment and will return to the U.S. later this month for The All Stars Tour 2013 with Every Time I Die.
