The Avant-garde metalcore force known as IWRESTLEDABEARONCE are putting the final touches on their sophomore effort with Century Media. Once the album is complete they’ll hit the road with Dance Gavin Dance (full schedule below).
IWRESTLEDABEARONCE – “Danger In The Manger”
The musical influences that IWRESTLEDABEARONCE draw upon run the gamut from Dillinger Escape Plan to Bjork to Mr. Bungle. It’s also refreshing to see a band that excels in talent but doesn’t take itself too seriously, infusing tons of comedy (who could ever forget the indelible Mr. Belding?), however repulsive it may get (anally blood-stained underwear that gets sniffed), into its songs and videos. Listening to IWRESTLEDABEARONCE is like an epileptic seizure for the ears, but it’s a welcome break from both the gloomy themes of religion, war, genocide, misanthropy, etc., and the corporate “metal” that gets spoon fed to the masses.
IWRESTLEDABEARONCE – “See You In Shell”
I’m not sure that I would ever go see IWRESTLEDABEARONCE in concert (I have a sneaking suspicion that there would be an abundance of scenesters and hipsters in attendance), but I for damn sure would wear one of their T-shirts, which can be seen at MySpace.com/iwrestledabearonce. However, I’d definitely love to see these guys at a big metal festival.
