Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones hasn’t changed much after all. Following the release of a bodycam video from the Albuquerque police for when Jones was ticketed for his alleged drag racing citation, he was later arrested in New Mexico for a probation violation.
Jones’ management team released the following statement about his recent arrest,
Jon and his team are taking this very seriously, and we will let the legal process play out. We are confident he will be released once he has an opportunity to explain to the judge the facts in this case.
The UFC also released the following statement,
UFC is aware that Jon Jones turned himself into the Albuquerque Police Department this morning for a potential probation violation stemming from a traffic stop last week. UFC has been in touch with Jones’ legal team and will have no further comment until the organization has had appropriate time to gather necessary information.
Jones was taken into custody on Tuesday at 10 a.m. local time. He was arrested by officers from Probation & Parole, and taken directly to the detention center. Jones remained in custody as of Tuesday afternoon. No bail has been set.
At the moment, there’s no official word if Jones will face UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier at UFC 197. We’ll keep Yellers updated as soon as the UFC makes an announcement.
