Was there ever any doubt that Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World wouldn’t be a resounding success?
The Universal Pictures flick opened in 3,229 theaters last night, June 11th, and grossed $18.5 million. As it stands, it looks like Jurassic World will trounce the previous June opening weekend record held by Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, which grossed $21 million on its Thursday night preview, but that included $12 million from a Walmart promotion.
Jurassic World — starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Nick Robinson, Ty Simpkins, Jake Johnson, Irrfan Khan, Vincent D’Onofrio, BD Wong, and Omar Sy — expands its reach to 4,273 theaters tonight, July 12th. So, by Monday the truth of the movie’s success will be out.
