Besides James Wan’s The Conjuring 2 coming out this summer, his other newly produced horror project Lights Out is also aiming to hit theaters soon too.
Based on a short film of the same name, which won numerous awards in the film festival circuit a few years ago is officially hitting the big screen in July. A clever little film dubbed as “one of the scariest short films ever made.” From what we remember, it was two minutes of nerve-wracking terror, which was completely unwatchable with the lights off. Will it be original and clever as a feature film? It’s to be determined soon, but after watching the new trailer for Lights Out, I’m betting it definitely will.
The horror film is the feature film directorial debut of David F. Sandberg, who directed it from a screenplay by Eric Heisserer (Final Destination 5), and based on Sandberg’s own short film. Lights Out stars Teresa Palmer (Triple 9) as Rebecca, Gabriel Bateman (Annabelle) as Martin, and Billy Burke (the Twilight franchise) as Martin’s father.
Lights Out hits theaters on July 22, 2016.
