Man, can we just skip 2014 altogether and go right to 2015 so that we can all see Mad Max: Fury Road right now? I know that we’d miss a lot of stuff like Godzilla, but hopefully, Legendary Pictures is using the Toho method of making Godzilla films, so in 2015, we can still make it in time to see Godzilla: Resurrection, or whatever. This is half because I love the Mad Max franchise and half because Tom Hardy is becoming one of my favorite actors. Bronson is a masterpiece, and The Dark Knight Rises isn’t terrible. OK, fine. Bane wasn’t terrible. The Dark Knight Rises was, well… if it was an entry into a county fair competition, it would receive an “Honorable Mention.”
All of the behind-the-scenes shots released so far look fucking awesome. The vehicles are appropriately monster-sized and meet the spike quota required by desert murderers. The costumes look cool too, but Tom Hardy could look badass if the film’s director, George Miller, put him in one of those Doctor Who bowties and nothing else. Don’t get any clever ideas, fan fiction writers.
George Miller says that he’s directing Mad Max: Fury Road and the sequel Mad Max: Furiosa back to back. That rules. I’m not sure what a “furiosa” is, as it sounds like the title of a Shakira album, but the more Max the better.
Mad Max: Fury Road is set to hit theaters May 15, 2015.
