It doesn’t happen very often, but every once in a while a trailer comes along that is truly disturbing, but not in its gratuitous gore and violence. No, disturbing in the sense that it sinks into your gut, and as it sits there, the bile churning and bubbling with the desire to exit through your feeding hole, the trailer keeps slinging a steady stream of soul-corrupting degradation at you until you’re feeling as evil and insane as the story that unfolds. That’s essentially the case with the two teaser trailers for J.M. Stelly’s (We Knew Him Well, Conjure) Within Madness. The second trailer below is a little more gratuitous than the first, but it still taps into those horror-induced emotions… and it might be NSFW.

Filmed over the past several years, Within Madness mixes the found footage genre with the abstract nature of an art house film. By using state of the art equipment and software, Stelly has been able to achieve the look of 16mm as opposed to the typical HD footage you find in today’s market place. The movie is a truly unique look at self destruction from the point of view of a sociopath.

Within Madness is inspired by the video diaries of Ricardo Lopez, aka, the Björk Stalker. If you’re not familiar with Ricardo Lopez, look him up on Google. What you’ll find is honestly some of the most disturbing accounts of human depravity you’ll ever come across. Here’s a sample:
Within Madness Synopsis:
Within Madness is the story of Donovan Summers (Matt Story), a fitness and gym instructor who is living a modest life in the suburbs of his community. Through his video diaries, Donovan tells his life story and gives a first-hand account of his love for one of his clients, Brandy (Kaci Champion). As the diaries continue, Donovan becomes more obsessed with her. As his obsessions grow, Donovan starts a downward spiral into his own personal hell, leaving him to face the madness within and the monster he has become.
The film is currently seeking distribution through a campaign on crowd funding site Indiegogo
