Those of you who are fans of the slasher genre have to see the remake of William Lustig’s cult classic hit, Maniac, if you haven’t already done so. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last year, after it was screened it was regarded as one of the better horror releases of the year for its classic story and stunning cinematography. Although, not as violent as the 1980 original in my opinion, the remake is a good mix of old school and new generation horror that should please most fans of this genre.
Elijah Wood stars as Frank Zito, a brutal serial killer who falls in love with an artist named Anna (Nora Arnezeder). The relationship further unleashes his obsession to stalk and scalp women for his collection.
Since Maniac isn’t screening in theaters anymore, next month is your chance to pick up and watch the film on Blu-ray. That’s right! The film drops in disc format from IFC Films on October 15, 2013 with a few bonus features that should give you a better understanding and making of the film.
Mark you calender for this awesome release!
