British Columbia-based thrash and groove metal band, Meridius (named after Russell Crowe’s character in Gladiator) have unleashed a heavy thrasher, “Speed Kills,” from their upcoming self-titled debut EP. A potential anthem for MADD, the track addresses the dangers of driving while under the influence, while also being a killer enough to induce some mosh pit madness. The EP will be available on March 20th, and available for pre-order via the band’s Bandcamp page, where you can also stream “Speed Kills.”
This raw, heavy thrash, melodic, groovy five piece are continuously writing material and staying true to the metal forefathers. With past members hailing from speed (Howler), progressive (Equestrian Lord), and power metal bands, Meridius’ metal embodies the intensity of aggression and pure mayhem both on the stage and in the studio. Vocalist Eric Willmont constructs intense imagery through his lyrics covering dark topics (death, torture, war, and violence) all the while fitting in appropriate dash of macabre humor. Through a collaborative writing process, Meridius construct song after song with their sights set on a full length album and tour across Canada to follow their soon-to-be-released debut EP.
