Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance CoverThe fact is I’ve been kind of out of the loop on Metal Gear Rising. Oh Shit! Sorry! I mean Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

Has it really been that long?

It’s true, the game hit a barrier in the early stages of development, and nearly got cancelled. No ground breaking news here, but things do look very promising with the sophisticated cutting system developed by Platinum Games, who revived the game late last year.

Revengeance looks brutally sadistic when you know you have full angle control of that katana, and I’m not trying to give any ideas here kids. I’ll be honest, when they announced the removal of stealth elements, the core of the series, I pretty much gave up all hope on Revengeance. As you know, since 1987, you never expected to pick up a hack and slash game with Metal Gear, so to no surprise people are pissed off, including myself.

But my opinion has changed, as of late, because Raiden is only bringing a different point of view, and skill set in the series. So, it pretty much makes sense to me to focus on swordfighting, and change the system to accommodate his primary ability. Let’s face it, if you had a katana in your hands wouldn’t you want to go ape shit, and slice up limbs all day long without having to sneak around? Well, everyone has different approaches in life, and I might just start changing mine with Revengeance.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Other than this new Gamescom trailer for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance which, is pretty much identical to the same old trailer used at E3 this year with a bonus added. Konami did however confirm in a press release that Revengeance will be out February 19, 2013, in North America, and slated for February 21 in Europe.
