Besides UFC 216 this weekend, former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping took apart in a press conference for UFC 217 alongside UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt and T.J. Dillashaw.
As usual, the presser kicked off pretty quick with Bisping doing most of the usual trash talking toward GPS, who didn’t have much to say in return aside his “intoxication” insult from the first press conference.
Now that both men are nearing UFC 217 in November, there’s still a clear size difference. GSP did manage to put on some mass, but Bisping looks much more natural for a middleweight. The British champ obviously remained unimpressed, calling the Canadian a “lizard” and a “fatter, slower” version of his former self.
He still looks like a lizard, I said that at the last press conference, and he still looks like one now. He looks like a blown-up version of himself, trying to get bigger. He’s the biggest Georges St-Pierre that we’ve ever seen, but he’s still the smallest guy that I’m ever going to fight. I was 15-0 at light heavyweight, I’m the world champion at middleweight. He’s a blown-up welterweight. I mean, he’s bringing in all these trainers. He’s got Freddie Roach down there. Freddie Roach is a great boxing coach, but he doesn’t know f*ck-all about MMA. He couldn’t even spell UFC, let alone MMA.
In addition, Bisping vows to retire GPS for good after their 185-pound collision at UFC 217. He also doesn’t believe GSP will defend the middleweight belt against Robert Whittaker or Luke Rockhold. However, according to a contract agreement between the UFC and GSP, the former welterweight kingpin must defend the middleweight belt, if he defeats Bisping in November.
You ain’t going to be fighting Whittaker, pal, so don’t worry about that. I see what you’re saying, but it ain’t going to happen, Georges, so forget this little romance and this fairy tale you have in your head, because you’re going to get your f*cking ass kicked and then that’s that. Georges is going to retire. He said, ‘If I don’t win, I’m going to retire.’ Any children here, please listen: if at first you don’t succeed, try and try again. The saying is not: if at first I don’t succeed, I’m going to f*cking run off and cry like a little b*tch.
Bisping added on Friday,
That’s not the expression, Georges. That’s why I’m sitting here with this [belt], and you’re not. Because I got to the top of the mountain many times and failed, but I kept coming back and I kept fighting for it, and here I am. But if you come out of retirement and you lose, you’re going to retire again? Whoop-de-f*cking-doo.
If you want to stay and hang out too long after I beat you, it’s your problem, man. You become a punching for the other guys, no problem. You do whatever you want.
