In a blast of blackened hardcore, Copenhagen’s Anti Ritual makes a hard and depressing eco-political statement in their third track, “No Second Earth,” from their self-titled debut EP. From the velocity of the track’s opening frantic one chord to the explosion on the drums and the make-your-throat-bleed vocals, you know that “No Second Earth” is an impassioned statement about losing our planet and the hopelessness of trying to save it.
The track’s accompanying video (filmed, directed, and edited by Per Silkjær) uses stock footage of our planet from space and some gorgeous landscape scenes from what appears to be the ‘60s. Whether it’s the ‘60s or ‘70s, it’s a bygone era, one that’s lost, perhaps a representation of the planet that we, as humans, are bound to lose.
