Holy shit, Batman! This is some damn fine music right here. After a 15 year disappearing act, and after only one self-titled full-length release, The Cutthroats 9 are back with a new album and are ready to conquer all.
The new album, Dissent, is out right now on 150 gram vinyl via Lamb Unlimited, and the CD version will see the light of day on June 24th, via Reptilian Records.
Just today, the band released “Hit the Ground” exclusively at Vice magazine’s Noisy website. Prior to that, they released “Dissension” at Cvlt Nation.
Check the tracks out and let us know what you think.
If you want to order the album, place your order at lambunlimited.bandcamp.com for the vinyl or at reptilianrecords.com for the CD.
The Cutthroats 9 have been pigeonholed as a noise rock band, but I personally get a post-grunge vibe from them. And that rings especially true when you consider that the band originally formed in the late ‘90s. My sentiment is reinforced when “Hit the Ground” is being described as, “”a bassy, bluesy, almost plaintive slice of audible paranoia.”
The Cutthroats 9 features founding member, singer, and guitarist Chris Spencer (Unsane, Celan), as well as returning drummer Will Carroll (Old Granddad, Death Angel) and bassist Tony Baumeister (-16-, Aeges).
CT9 recently toured the West Coast, and as we speak new tour dates are being established for the East Coast. We’ll keep you posted when those dates come through.
