Am I alone in my inability to disassociate Morbid Angel from Beavis and Butt-Head? “Bow to me faithfully.” See below. Now I’m not.

This new Morbid Angel video for “Existo Vulgoré” is the “official” promo video for the album “Illud Divinum Insanus,” which came out in June 2011. A lot of fans are disliking the new Morbid Angel, but it’s hard to argue with the aesthetics of this video. The video’s style and look are reminiscent of early 20th century-era horror (think Nosferatu). In fact, go watch Max Schreck in Nosferatu. Old school fans don’t have to like the new Morbid Angel, but don’t shit on the video.

The video was conceptualized by Morbid Angel and video director Thomas Mignone (Slipknot, Mudvayne, Avenged Sevenfold) and produced through his production company DOOM Incorporated. Mignone filmed the band in Tampa. Digital compositing and post-production was then done in Los Angeles with editor and visual efx artist Christopher Neil. The look and style of the video is reminiscent of the classic, silent horror films era, and features the intricate sculptures of artist Krystopher Sapp. The cinematographer was Michael Ferrera. Make-up design FX were created by Rebecca McGillicuddy.
