by Nashville-based All Them Witches hit the southern-psychedelic-doom chord hard and dirty with “When God Comes Back.” And it all kicks off with a preacher-like spoken word incantation before breaking into smashing drums and killer retro riffs.
“When God Comes Back” comes off All Them Witches’ upcoming album Lightning at the Door, due out September 16th.
Yes, the video is a performance video, by guitarist Ben McLeod’s own admission, “We made a music video that shows people what it is like to see All Them Witches live.” However, it’s actual live footage from a performance at the Garage in Salem, North Carolina. Plus the whole show was caught on tape, which means you have a live record to look forward to this December.
Singer/bassist Michael Parks, Jr. explains why *Lightning at the Door sounds so good:
We tracked everything live in the same room. We got a lot of bleed from the mics and the amps being together. Everything felt organic.
The album comes as the band is in the midst of an extensive North American tour, joining Windhand for a two week outing as of September 4th and concluding on September 20th.
