Last year, Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats released one of the more impressive albums of the year, Mind Control. Now the band is gearing up to release the 7” Runaway Girls, and kicking things off is a video for the title track. Watch the video in the player above.
Obviously a “runaway girl” isn’t as innocent as it may sound, certainly not as fun sounding as Bon Jovi made it sound when their runaway turned to prostitution. But no, Uncle Acid’s “Runaway Girls” are vastly different than those glam metal girls. These girls fall into cults, drug abuse, murder gangs, motorcycle gangs, suicide cults, the old and dirty kind of porn, and, yes, even prostitution. However, Uncle Acid makes it all sound equally romantic and melancholic with their retro doomish melodies. It’s a fabulous listen and the video is both captivating and repulsive.
The Runaway Girls 7” will be released in conjunction with Uncle Acid’s fall tour, which kicks off on September 24th. See the list of tour dates below.
