You can finally clap your hands for Microsoft. The company is most likely celebrating right now because for the first time since the Xbox One became available last year, the next-gen console has finally outsold Sony’s PlayStation 4 in both the U.S. and the UK market for the month of November.
Largely due to Microsoft’s $50 price cut on the Xbox One in the U.S., the sales for the console last month hit 1.2 million. Microsoft’s VP of Corporate Marketing Mike Nichols confirmed the new record in a statement to Gamespot:
We are committed to making Xbox the best place to play, with this year’s best games, the best community of gamers to play with, and terrific value. We are amazed by the excitement Xbox fans have shown to start off this Holiday. November set a new record for sales of Xbox One, and Xbox One was the best-selling console in the U.S. and UK.
If Sony continues to keep the PS4 at $399, it’s likely the Xbox One will outperform the PS4 in sales this Holiday Season.
