In a little over a month from now, Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov will finally be fighting inside the Octagon for the undisputed lightweight championship.
It’s official now!
According to the UFC 223 poster, both men will square off at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY for the 155-pound belt, previously held by Conor McGregor. Since the Irishman hasn’t set a date for his return, the UFC has decided to move forward without him in the lightweight division. However, the promotion hasn’t stripped McGregor of his lightweight title just yet.
In addition, a second championship bout between Rose Namajunas and Joanna Jedrzejczyk will serve as the co-main event. It’s a strawweight rematch which should get fans excited since many predicted a quick loss for Namajunas in their first match at UFC 217.
