Outlawing Certain Body Mods

sub dermals

Yesterday, August 20, 2013, the Arkansas State Senator sponsored a bill that seeks to outlaw certain body modifications, namely scarification and dermal implants. And Missy isn’t alone, in a 26-4 vote, the Senate moved to outlaw scarification and these types of implants. The next step for the proposed bill is the House.

Obviously, this move is a violation of our Constitutional rights of freedom of expression, because the people who get tattoos and piercings are using their bodies as an art canvas, it’s also a violation of our human rights. It would be a huge step backward if this bill were made law, as it would force people to get their body mods elsewhere, in places where sanitary laws aren’t in place, which would expose the individual to many other health hazards that could be regulated in the United States.

What do you think? Is it a good idea to outlaw certain body modifications? Is it something the government has the right to do?
