In 1981, legendary American director John Carpenter introduced us to Escape From New York, a sci-fi action movie set in a crime-ridden United States, where New York’s Manhattan Island has been converted into a maximum security. As you all should know, Snake Plissken (Kurt Russell) was forced into a mission in the city to rescue the president within a 24 hour limit. The former Special Forces war hero pulled it off in 22 hours, but also managed to humiliate the president by sabotaging his vital speech on live television.
After the original release of Escape from New York, Snake was remembered as one of the baddest dudes on the planet. If you like him as much as we do, then we highly recommend you re-experience his cynical persona in a brand new Collector’s Edition Blu-ray of the movie, which is slated for release on April 21, 2015. The two-disc Blu-ray format will feature tons of extras, which is expected to exceed the previous DVD special edition. Plus, fans should be happy to hear that the disc will feature a 2K high-definition scan of the inter-positive, struck from the original negative.
