Although the first official trailer for the upcoming Halloween film already revealed the iconic masked killer, a new photo obtained by Entertainment Weekly is still worth checking out. It’s definitely eye catching since The Shape is holding a fine kitchen accessory in his right hand. Guess what it is?
Following an interview with Jamie Lee Curtis, the photo was shared exclusively on EW. Curtis who plays has Laurie Strode 40 years later also revealed that the new film picks up after the events of the first film, which was released in 1978. The new Halloween entirely skips all 8 films in the franchise, including the ones made by legendary rock artist Rob zombie.
Curtis said,
What I loved is that it surgically excises all of that dead tissue. This is growing from just that original movie, 40 years later. There may be people who love the other movies, great — [they have] zero relevance to this story.
Beside returning as Strode, her two daughters played by Judy Greer and Andi Matichak will also be joining forces with her to take on Michael Myers. The cast also includes Will Patton, who plays a police officer, as well as Ginny Gardner, Miles Robbins, Dylan Arnold, and Drew Scheid, who all play friends of the teenaged Allyson.
Master of horror John Carpenter will executive produce and serve as creative consultant on this film, joining forces with cinema’s current leading producer of horror, Jason Blum (Get Out, Split, The Purge, Paranormal Activity). Inspired by Carpenter’s classic, filmmakers David Gordon Green and Danny McBride crafted a story that carves a new path from the events in the landmark 1978 film, and Green also directs.
The latest Halloween film hits theaters on October 19th from Universal Pictures.
