Umberto Lenzi’s Nightmare City is a milestone in the zombie genre and in 1980s horror cinema, just as is George Romero‘s cult favorite, Dawn of the Dead. If you’ve been a fan of zombie horror films over the past three decades, then you might want to consider helping Tom Savini and Monsta Worx remake Nightmare City later this year.
You heard me loud and clear! Savini is attached to direct the remake, supervise the special effects, and also play a role in it alongside Judith O’Dea from the original Night of the Living Dead. There’s even talk that Dean Cundey, a horror cinematographer best known for his work on many films of John Carpenter such as The Thing and Halloween, might be involved in the project.
An indiegogo campaign for the film launched yesterday and will run until April 16, 2015. The goal of it is to raise $200,000 by the end of the campaign. You can support now by donating any amount, but if you are generous enough, you’ll get access to amazing perks like DVDs and T-shirts. If you donate big, you’ll be an extra or a zombie in Nightmare City.
