As much as we like Dwayne Johnson (a.k.a The Rock), we really don’t want to see him ruin the memories of one of our all-time favorite films of John Carpenter. The Thing is clearly number one in our book and Big Trouble in Little China easily slides in second place. The Rock is also a huge fan of it, therefore he wants his ogre hands all over the remake of Big Trouble in Little China.
According to TheWrap, 20th Century Fox was approached by Johnson and his producing partners at Seven Bucks Productions, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia, to remake the cult classic, which originally starred Kurt Russell. Johson is in negotiations to play iconic character Jack Burton, a trucker who helps his friend Wang Chi rescue Wang’s green-eyed fiancee from bandits in San Francisco’s Chinatown.
Apparently, X-Men: First Class scribes Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz have already signed on to pen the script for the Big Trouble in Little China remake.
