If you’re unfamiliar with Ronda Rousey’s mother AnnMaria DeMars, then you can start to get acquainted with her in the video clip above. The first thing you will definitely notice is that she is brutally honest. So honest that for the first time she is letting people know how she feels about Ronda’s longtime coach and friend, Edmond Tarverdyan from Glendale Fighting Club. And it isn’t sounding positive at all.
DeMars said,
I think Edmond is a terrible coach and I will say it publicly, I think he’s a terrible coach. I think he hit the lottery when Ronda walked in there. She was winning before she ever met him. She probably won 99 percent of the judo matches she ever fought in.
She also added,
She was one of the top athletes in the world when she walked in there and he wouldn’t even give her the time of day for months. Somebody like that is a terrible coach. And I think she stays there, because it’s like somebody pitches a no-hitter when they’re wearing red underwear and they wear that red underwear every day. I think its superstition and I would caution anybody from going there.
For more of her rant on Edmond, I highly recommend watching both clips embedded on the page. As for Ronda, I’m sure we’ll know how she feels about her mothers thoughts in the following days to come. Ronda meets Holly Holm at UFC 193 on November 15, 2015 at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.
