The Blob, a jelly-like substance from space that has terrorized the big screen three times over the past five decades, is making a comeback in the not too distant future. The second remake of the independently made 1958 American horror sci-fi film, The Blob (aka, The Molten Meteor), is officially moving forward with shooting expected to begin this fall.
Simon West (The Expendables 2, Con Air) has been attached to helm the project with Chris Haney (Avatar, Avengers Assemble) to oversee the modern-day VFX in post-production. As far as casting news goes, ScreenDaily just revealed that Samuel L. Jackson has been cast and will play “a biochemistry professor attempting to thwart the other-worldly predator discovered deep within the Earth.”
The Blob remake is being produced by Richard Saperstein (Se7en, The Mist) and Brian Witten (Final Destination, 2009’s Friday the 13th), alonside Jack Harris, the original producer of 1958’s The Blob, who will serve as the executive producer.
