If you still haven’t seen Sinister, then head on over right now to Netflix to watch this spooky supernatural horror film starring Ethan Hawke. Sinister is a great film that received many positive reviews for being deeply frightening, and Roger Ebert even gave it 3 out of 4 stars, calling it “an undeniably scary movie.” If it sucks after 30 minutes, the worst thing you can do is shut it off and never listen to us again. Sure, that’s a burden for Yell! Magazine, but we’re that confident you’ll like it if you enjoyed The Shining, 8MM, and Francis Ford Coppola’s The Conversation.
Now, a film that’s considered good obviously deserves a sequel and producer Jason Blum (Insidious, The Purge) already has great intentions to turn it into another horror franchise. Sinister 2 is in development, but without Scott Derrickson sitting in the directors chair this time around. However, he will produce and co-write the story with C. Robert Cargill, which is good news for the success of the franchise. As for the new director, Derrickson was pleased to reveal that Citadel director, Ciaran Foy, will helm the sequel, and why he was selected via Twitter:

According to Derrickson, Foy was selected because he “could sustain tension but also had a classic sense of cinema style and control,” he said. In addition, Foy is “great with actors, including child actors,” which is a requirement for Sinister 2.
