The Unseen, a modern retelling of the classic The Invisible Man directed by Geoff Redknap has been officially acquired by Spotlight Pictures for worldwide sales, except in Canada. For those familiar with Redknap will know he is best known for his special makeup effects work on Deadpool, The Cabin in the Woods, and Star Trek Beyond, just to name a small few. This gritty sci-fi horror film is his feature directorial debut.
THE UNSEEN is the story of Bob (Aden Young), a struggling mill worker, who mysteriously abandoned his family and isolated himself in a small northern town. He returns for one last chance to reconnect with his troubled daughter Eva (Julia Sarah Stone), but when Eva goes missing, Bob will risk everything to find her including exposing the secret that he is becoming invisible.
The film was first exposed at The Fantasia Film Festival earlier this year to extremely positive reviews. Carlos Rincon, Head of Acquisitions at Spotlight Pictures later negotiated a deal with producer Katie Weekley to bring The Unseen to audiences worldwide.
Weekley said,
We are extremely excited to be working with Spotlight. As we brought THE UNSEEN to market, we were looking for a sales agent who connected with our film and its audience. Spotlight’s keen understanding of both genre and art house made them an ideal partner.
The film will have its Los Angeles premiere at Screamfest at 9:30pm on Tuesday, October 25th.
