Twin Cities-based progressive metal (although I’d probably put them a step above the metalcore crowd) band, By the Thousands, have released the video for “Revenant,” a pulsating and addictive track off of their debut album, Connect. The video, which isn’t really anything more than the band playing in a forest, was directed by Randy Edwards.
The track is way more impressive than the video, with its killer bass-driven intro and pounding beats from behind the kit, all of which continues to permeate throughout the track. The guitar solo is pristine in its direct contrast to the overall vibe of the song, and the vocals are throat-crushing.
By the Thousands commented on the track’s title:
Revenant is a reference to the people that exit your life, whether they choose to or not. The word itself is a synonym for ‘ghost.’ This song mirrors the emotions one feels when dealing with the residual effects of losing a loved one.
