Spike TV will surely not be a place full of romantic segments on Thursday night, but rather violent ones as Bellator 89 will be broadcast live from the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The bantamweight title will be on the line as champion Eduardo Dantas defends his strap for the first time against Bellator’s Season 6 Bantamweight Tournament winner, Marcos Galvao. Dantas submitted former champion Zach Makovsky to win the title back in April of last year. En route to his title shot, Galvao defeated talents such as Ed West, Travis Marx, and Luis Nogueira in the bantamweight tournament.
Although many believe Bellator’s lineal bantamweight champion is Tyson Nam, who viciously knocked out Dantas at Shooto Brazill 33 last summer. Bellator was scrutinized for their approval of letting their champions take fights outside the organization to stay busy between their fights for the promotion.
Also on the card is Ohio middleweight Brian Rogers sharing the co-main event slot with Dan Cramer, who has one loss out of seven Bellator bouts.
