If you find yourself in the New York area this month, make sure to hit up the TromaDance Film Festival in NYC for the first time ever on June 27th and 28th. If you’ve ever seen a Troma film, or if you’re a fan of Toma’s founder and president, Lloyd Kaufman, then you won’t want to miss this one of a kind event.
This year’s TromaDance Festival is the 15th annual and there is bound to be something special since it will also celebrate Troma’s 40th anniversary and the 30th anniversary of the Toxic Avenger. Toxie cosplay, anyone?
What makes TromaDance different from the rest? It’s free, totally free. Even for filmmakers to submit their films (note that submissions are closed for 2014). But there’s no preferential treatment, no VIP admittance, and no fee for entry. It’s low-budget keeping it low budget. As the official website says, “TromaDance is proud to be the first and only film festival of the people, for the people, and by the people.”
The schedules aren’t up yet, but Evil Feed (watch the trailer in the player above) and The Final Member (watch the hilarious trailer just below) are set to headline.
We’ll let you know as soon as the schedules are posted.
