After two tumultuous days filled with worries of yet another card in jeopardy, UFC 153 has been forced to go through some major changes and they are quite exciting to say the least.

A car accident has forced Jose Aldo (21-1) to withdraw from defending his UFC Featherweight Championship against Frankie Edgar (14-3 MMA), who was going to make his debut in the division. Although this was a fight fans were eager to see, another solid match up will serve as the replacement.

Stephan Bonnar

UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva (32-4 MMA) will return to the light heavyweight division to face “The American Psycho” Stephan Bonnar (14-7 MMA) in what should be a delightful affair. Silva returns to Rio de Janeiro after dismantling Yushin Okami back at UFC 132 and will compete for the first time at light heavyweight since his outstanding performance against Forrest Griffin at UFC 101. Bonnar is currently riding a three-fight win streak and has never been finished thus far in his MMA career (his two losses ruled by TKO were due to doctor stoppages). Frankie Edgar seems to have been forced off the card.

Fabio Moldanado

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (32-10 MMA) has been forced to withdraw from his anticipated fight with Glover Texeira (18-2 MMA) because of an indisclosed injury. Texeira will now square off against fellow countryman Fabio Moldanado (18-5 MMA) which should be an entertaining slugfest for the home crowd.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira

Finally, a heavyweight matchup has been announced between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (33-7-1 MMA) and Dave Herman (21-4 MMA). This will be Nogueira’s first fight back since his grotesque arm break at the hands of Frank Mir at UFC 140 last December.
