Conspiracy theorists will be at it again with this new update since word is out that Anthony Pettis will finally get a title shot with Benson Henderson for the Lightweight Championship at UFC 164 on August 31. This is a rematch that MMA fans have wanted for a longtime, and it sounds like it’s official now.
Henderson was originally set to face No. 1 contender T.J. Grant, but Grant was forced to pull out of the fight because he suffered a concussion during jiu-jitsu training shortly after the announcement of his bout was made.
“I am healing from a concussion I suffered in BJJ of all things. I hope to be back training very soon.”
Additionally, Grant also wrote via Twitter,
“Sorry all you conspiracy theorists, Dana White/UFC did not and could not pay me any amount of money to step aside.”
Pettis recently defeated in fashion Donald Cerrone, Joe Lauzon, and Jeremy Stephens inside the Octagon. The former WEC Lightweight Champion is clearly stoked for the rematch.
“[You] can’t stop destiny! Me and Henderson for the belt in my hometown!”
