It sounds like the main event for UFC 189 may be in jeopardy since it’s being reported from various sources that UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo has an injury.
The champion is scheduled to face Conor McGregor in Las Vegas on July 11th, but it now appears Aldo has sustained an injury in training. Apparently, Aldo fractured his rib and he needs three to four weeks of treatment to be at 100% for UFC 189. At the moment, Aldo has not officially pulled out of the fight with the Irishman.
Aldo is currently the first and only UFC featherweight champion. He has previously defended the strap against Chad Mendes, Ricardo Lamas, Chan Sung Jung, Frankie Edgar, and Kenny Florian, just to name a few. McGregor is riding a five win streak in the UFC with his most recent victory over Germany’s Dennis Siver in January.
