UFC 203: Dana White Says CM Punk’s Next Fight Shouldn’t Be In The UFC

Besides faulty elevators in Cleveland, Ohio, which injured C.B. Dollaway over the weekend at UFC 203, former WWE superstar CM Punk had an extremely rough start for his UFC debut.

As many of you are probably already aware by now CM Punk suffered a quick loss inside the Octagon. On the main UFC 203 card against Mickey Gall (2-0), CM Punk landed absolutely no significant strikes in his fight and lost by submission (rear-naked choke) in under 3-minutes.

Following his loss it sounds like CM Punk maybe never step back inside the Octagon again. UFC President Dana White stated in multiple interviews that Punk “probably” won’t have another fight under his MMA banner.

He probably shouldn’t have his next fight in the UFC. Just like I said with Brock, having your first fight in the UFC is tough and you [saw] tonight, even if it’s against a guy who is 2-0. This is a tough place to learn.

White doesn’t believe this was an experiment for CM Punk, who still plans on fighting inside the cage in the near future, but under which MMA banner is still to be determined.

I don’t know if it was an experiment. I became friends with him. He’s a nice guy. I like him. I have a lot of respect for him and he wanted to give it a shot. I gave him his shot.
