Following the release of UFC middleweight contender Roger Gracie last week due to a lackluster performance and loss to Tim Kennedy at UFC 162, it now appears that five more fighters have recently suffered the fame fait as Gracie. According to the official UFC website, the profiles for the following names have been removed from the online roaster:
Dave Herman (Heavyweight)
Vinny Magalhaes (Light Heavyweight)
Ednaldo Oliveira (Light Heavyweight)
Bristol Marunde (Welterweight)
John Maguire (Lightweight)
Out of all the fighters released above, Vinny Magalhaes was the only one who talked retirement prior to his last fight in the UFC, and said he deserved to get cut if he didn’t win.
I have one more fight left in my contract, but we all know that it doesn’t mean much and there’s a chance that I get cut. Before this fight I said I deserved to get cut if I didn’t win. I’m waiting for UFC’s decision, anything can happen, but I really don’t care, man.
The remaining four fighters will seek opportunities elsewhere. If they regain success in the combat sport, then there’s still a chance for them to make a return in the UFC.
